Just two months after his acclaimed ‘Dreamzone’ EP, Helsinki voyager Jaakko Eino Kalevi returns with an exceptional collection of remixes by four fellow travellers who take his enchanted pop into far-out new places. ‘Dreamzone Remixes’ will be released on February 17th.
First, Heatsick – Berlin-based polymath Steven Warwick – follows his recent LP for PAN with a totally tropical reimagining of ‘Memories’. His ‘Continental Drift’ mix is hallucinogenic house at its finest. Stream now:
Next, ‘No End’ is transformed by New York’s disco supremo Tom Noble into a sublimely silky outer-space boogie odyssey that’s sure to have connoisseurs – and dancefloors – purring with delight. Remember where you heard it first.
Then Jaakko’s Weird World labelmates Peaking Lights get stuck in to ‘When You Walk Through Them All’, reworking it as a swaggering, dubbed-out voodoo romp.
And finally, Finland’s synth marvel Vezurro pumps up the melancholy for a nostalgic rendition of ‘No End’. This is for anyone who’s ever fallen in love with Valerie Dore. Ciao!
Jaakko’s disco romance continues this spring with an EP forNew York’s Beats in Space label, to be followed later this summer by his first album for Weird World.
